Years ago, I would host a Guy Fawkes Night party every year on the 5th of November. We’d have food and games while V For Vendetta played in the background. I’d recount the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot, and we’d burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes (per tradition) because gaining knowledge is cool, and setting stuff on fire is kinda fun too.
Now it’s the 5th of November 2026 as I write this and I’m thinking about this “blue wave” that just happened with the midterms. Texas is blue, which is quite the sight. But what will it do?
Will this “blue wave” bring back Roe v Wade? Will it abolish ICE and shut down the concentration camps? Will it end police violence and school shootings? Will it tax the rich? Will it tear down the data centers? Will it dismantle systemic racism? Will it bring justice for the survivors of the monsters in the Epstein files? Will it bring us universal healthcare? Will it end the wars and stop genocide?
What will it do?
As I said in my previous post, voting is important, but it’s just one step. Now we must do what we always should have done: hold accountable those we put into power. We cannot become complacent because the orange man’s team took a loss. The work is far from over. So now I ask…
