People in power need to be held accountable. When we put our trust in them and idolize them, we make it easier for them to abuse their power even more.

I’m not saying every single famous person is evil, but you don’t know these people. Why would you trust them as though you did?
The people in power tell you who to hate and see as a danger in order to distract you from their corrupt activities.
Hate the gays, watch out for those immigrants, transgender people are coming for your kids, and oh heavens no, BROWN PEOPLE EXIST!
They promote an “us vs them” mentality to keep you blinded from the truth of their corruption and greed. They weaponize religion to convince you they’re on the side of righteousness. That’s an old strategy in the fascist playbook for gaining control that goes back to the Roman Empire.
Separation of church and state isn’t just to keep religion out of government, it’s to keep government out of religion. Because politics corrupts religion every single time, and religion – Christianity in particular in the west – is used to manipulate people by stoking their fears and reinforcing their xenophobia.
The only solution is a complete overhaul of the system, because the system is designed to benefit the mega rich – the only dangerous minority in the world – at the detriment of the rest of us.
